There is magic in the returning light in the Northern Hemisphere after dark winter months. Although it is still snowy and winter here in Iceland the days are longer and we can feel the inner fire slowly awakening.
This painting is from magical place, a glacier in Snæfellsnes Iceland. It is a place where you can truly recharge and be empowered by nature. It is an energy spot and some people believe it is one of the major chakras of Mother Earth.
I send you light from the energy vortex in Iceland with this painting.
Nature is my teacher and inspiration. It can become a gateway to deeper wisdom and teachings if we just allow it to speak to us. I had the privilege to experience this communion with nature when I went to visit beautiful beaches in Snæfellsnes in Iceland. It is a very special place with high energy vibrations. I have often visited these places but this special afternoon in October something special showed itself in the cliff rocks by the beach and how light played with its formations.
I felt the sacredness of this place and the wisdom it holds in its rocks that have stand the test of time for eons, always still and observing, being formed by the elements and the ocean. I saw the old wise ones in the rocks and it felt like they were an ancient record keepers of sacred wisdom. I felt in awe how beautiful and sacred our earth mother is and how we can perceive her light and wisdom if we just observe and take in the beauty and stand still with the land.
I had to paint this sanctuary and it is a soul art medicine to to be able to take that energy into the paintings and stay with it and let the colors guide me forward.
In the highlands near our biggest glacier in Iceland, Vatnajökull, a volcano erupts in Holuhraun, since September 2. 2014. Our wild and beautiful Mother land lets her fire out and makes a way for the new, a new earth and the new lava makes a new landscape. It is beautiful to look from a safe place but dangerous to be near. The fire energy is both destructive yet building new land and lava on this sand plateau is perfect.
I love this fiery energy in my country, it awakens me and startles me because its energy and weather is always changing. My motherland´s creative powers are amazing and it influences me. Creativity is vibrant and alive, it is ever-changing and needs an outburst. How can we learn from our Mother? It is true when energy builds up it needs to find a way out. When emotional tensions is blogged we feel volatile and uncomfortable, therefore it is never good to block energy flow whether it is an emotion or magma that needs to burst out. Everything needs to flow, the river, the magma, our emotions, our bloodstream, as within so without. Energy needs to flow, nothing is good static, static is stale and stuck. So lets flow with our emotions, find an outlet, dance, move, paint, talk! Lets express ourselves and trust that everything is good! It is good when it is in flow and we know the situation always changes when balance is reached. Mother Earth seeks balance through these eruptions and we need too. The painting I did reminds me of the fiery volcano goddess the needs to release her tensions and creativity. She is volatile yet building new land and her creativity and powers are so vibrant and alive. She is truly creativity in action.
Summer is coming to an end and autumn is soon laying its magical color carpet over nature. I have been away in the country for the most of summer and not been able to blog a lot this summer, but I am back again with lot of inspiration and creative news for soulful creative people. To do this feels vital for me. I feel I need to get away from normal routine and have my own retreat where I can rejuvenate and recharge my batteries. I stayed two weeks in my family’s summer cabin which has no electricity nor hot water. I had the most magical time there and did prayer stick out of wood and a talking stick. I love to make sacred art out of wood. I even found beautiful branch for making my power bow, which I painted and is going to remind me of my intentions and dreams and help me keep focus upon my target.I connected on a deep level with nature and its symbolism through staying silent in meditation and observing. I connected to the animals around me and got magical gifts from the animal kingdom. I received swans feathers and wing for my sacred art and tools and power stones. I am very thankful for this time.
Here is some of my power tools that I made.
After magical time in nature with my family I started to prepare transformative creative retreat in the highlands of Iceland, Thorsmork. It is an exquisite nature oasis between the mountains and glacier and the power there is immense. We made a sweat lodge in a viking way, building the base with stones, soil and grass and the sweat lodge ceremony was beautiful. The day after the sweat lodge we recharged through yoga outside in nature.
We prepared people to go on a vision quest where they walked alone in nature, treading their own path asking for guidance and symbols to speak to them. That was deep experience for people in this beautiful place and many connected on a deep level with nature. Later I led vision journey through drumming where people connected to their power animal and reclaimed their power face. The group did their power masks and at the same time releasing their false masks. Everybody decorated and painted their own power mask. The ceremony was powerful and people connected on deep level. After that we danced around the fire with the masks celebrating and ended in chakra dance where everybody released and felt happy in dancing through the chakras. This was all so powerful and magical and we the instructors were also left with open heart and connectivity with our tribe.
It is so profound when people open their heart and share their innermost being-ness with others totally being authentic. I am deeply thankful for experiencing this feeling of connectivity and community with kindred spirits.
Sitting around the fire singing, drumming, sharing and laughing enhances community and deep harmony between people. If we could just do more of that in today’s society. Our ancestor had their heartfelt councils and ceremonies around fires and it is beautiful and sacred experience. In our retreat we used swan feather as our talking stick which is passed around. When you hold the feather, you speak from an honest and open heart and nobody interrupts. It is sacred communion to listen and share so deeply and be able to speak from the heart with one another.
Shortly after the retreat, I was so blessed being able to partake in the opening ceremony of a medicine wheel, in the Icelandic highlands. Jesse Blue-Forrest Peacewalker and Sandra Moondancer from Canada had been circling Iceland building five medicine wheels. One in each direction, with a goddess wheel in the middle, which was going to activate all the others. These were built in Iceland for world peace, and the goddess wheel was lighted at the same time Yoko Ono lighted the Peace Tower in the island of Videy in Reykjavik. At the opening of the medicine wheel there was a peace pipe ceremony. It felt powerful to witness and to connect with the sacred Cherokee peace pipe. I feel so blessed.
Here is the radiation from the peace medicine wheels in Iceland spreading peaceful energy around the world.
