Flowing with the cycles of the seasons

Spring

Plant your dream

The magic of Spring brings forth new growth, sprouts and light. The earth mother awakens and stirs and rises from her deep sleep of winter. The energy burst forth from her deep belly and gives energy to her children to be reborn. When we flow with the medicine wheel in circular fashion the sun rises in the east as well as the spring giving rise to new beginnings. During this time we can sprout our dream seeds, work on our dreams, ignite our creative flame and nurture it. It is a time of new beginnings. Spring is time to rejuvenate, nurture ourselves and be reborn into our authentic selves.

The growing light gives rise to shine our light into the world.

Summer

Blossom into your potential

The magic of Summer brings forth blossoming energy of light, beauty and abundance. The energy of the earth mother is extrovert, spreading joy, colors and vitality through and to her children. It is a time of peak vitality and energy with the sun at its highest spot bringing light and heat awakening all our senses. In the medicine wheel the summer is in the south direction giving rise to innocence and trust. Here is a perfect time to find the power of now, and work with the energy of nature and the elements through meditation, dance and earth connection. Its a perfect time to dive into our creative potentials as our inner fires rises up.

We are ready to be powerful as we stand strong in our own light, ready to be seen as who we are.

Autumn

Harvest and release

The magic of Autumn brings forth the in breath and out breath of life, the flow of give and receive. We receive the gift of harvest, what we have sown is given to us. At the same time what is ready to be released is given away. The old has given its gifts of beauty and the cycle continues, the leaves fall away. It has served its purpose. Everything must go through its cycle of transformation, it is the natural law and that gives balance to earth mother and her children. In the  medicine wheel we look to the west, towards the setting sun, the death of the old and towards the transformation and our emotions. It gives rise to our intuition and our dreamtime. Autumn is good time to look at our outdated beliefs that have hindered our growth and release them as well as everything that is not serving our highest good. It is a good time to find our balance in body, mind and spirit and while releasing also receive the gifts and acknowledge what is working well in our lives. It is a time of de-tox, cleansing, self-knowledge and appreciation.

We are ready to shed the old to embrace our newfound strength.

Winter

Self-Reflect and embrace who you are

The magic of Winter brings forth self-discovery and insight. It is the time when earth mother retreats her energies into her inner core, while her children rest and relax into the womb. Winter is perfect time for reflection and deepening. In the medicine wheel it is the direction of the North that gifts us with insight and wisdom, the cycle has run its course ready to spiral up in a newfound wisdom from its previous growth period. It is a time when the shadow is deep and the darkness of the womb and cosmos is obvious. Therefore springs forth all creation, from darkness into the light. We can assess our inner wisdom, look deep into our shadow and be defined by the light like a star. It is a path of strength and courage and if we are willing to look within ourselves with honesty and humility there will be a great benefit, a quickening and a deepening on our spiritual path. When we can truly self-reflect we will notice that we too are part of the beauty of the Northern-Lights and the stars high above.

We are star among the stars, shining brightly in the darkest of hours.

Summer inspiration and magic

Summer is coming to an end and autumn is soon laying its magical color carpet over nature. I have been away in the country for the most of summer and not been able to blog a lot this summer, but I am back again with lot of inspiration and creative news for soulful creative people. To do this feels vital for me. I feel I need to get away from normal routine and have my own retreat where I can rejuvenate and recharge my batteries. I stayed two weeks in my family’s summer cabin which has no eleDSCN6112ctricity nor hot water. I had the most magical time there and did prayer stick out of wood and a talking stick. I love to make sacred art out of wood. I even found beautiful branch for making my power bow, which I painted and is going to remind me of my intentions and dreams and help me keep focus upon my target.I connected on a deep level with nature and its symbolism through staying silent in meditation and observing. I connected to the animals around me and got magical gifts from the animal kingdom. I received swans feathers and wing for my sacred art and tools and power stones. I am very thankful for this time.

Here is some of my power tools that I made.DSCN5901

After magical time in nature with my family I started to prepare transformative creative retreat in the highlands of Iceland, Thorsmork. It is an exquisite nature oasis between the mountains and glacier and the power there is immense. We made a sweat lodge in a viking way, building the base with stones, soil and grass and the sweat lodge ceremony was beautiful. The day after the sweat lodge we recharged through yoga outside in nature.

We prepared people to go on a vision quest where they walked alone in nature, treading their own path asking for guidance and symbols to speak to them. That was deep experience for people in this beautiful place and many connected on a deep level with nature. Later I led vision journey through drumming where people connected to their power animal and reclaimed their power face. The group did their power masks and at the same time releasing their false masks.  Everybody decorated and painted their own power mask. The ceremony was powerful and people connected on deep level.  After that we danced around the fire with the masks celebrating and ended in chakra dance where everybody released and felt happy in dancing through the chakras. This was all so powerful and magical and we the instructors were also left with open heart and connectivity with our tribe.

It is so profound when people open their heart and share their innermost being-ness with others totally being authentic. I am deeply thankful for experiencing this feeling of connectivity and community with kindred spirits.

Sitting around the fire singing, drumming, sharing and laughing enhances community and deep harmony between people. If we could just do more of that in today’s society. Our ancestor had their heartfelt councils and ceremonies around fires and it is beautiful  and sacred experience. In our retreat we used swan feather as our talking stick which is passed around. When you hold the feather, you speak from an honest and open heart and nobody interrupts. It is sacred communion to listen and share so deeply and be able to speak from the heart with one another.

Shortly after the retreat, I was so blessed being able to partake in the opening ceremony of a medicine wheel, in the Icelandic highlands. Jesse Blue-Forrest Peacewalker and Sandra Moondancer from Canada had been circling Iceland building five medicine wheels. One in each direction, with a goddess wheel in the middle, which was going to activate all the others. These were built in Iceland for world peace, and the goddess wheel was lighted at the same time Yoko Ono lighted the Peace Tower in the island of Videy in Reykjavik. At the opening of the medicine wheel there was a peace pipe ceremony. It felt powerful to witness and to connect with the sacred Cherokee peace pipe. I feel so blessed.

Summer Solstice Ritual- Awakening to the light within

DSCN3654
Solar Feminine

Last night I meditated with this image on my altar, surrendering to the energies of Summer Solstice, “the turning of the wheel” and thought about how our ancestors celebrated solstices with rituals and celebrations. Here in the Northern Hemisphere we experience peak of light energies flowing in and our brothers and sister in the Southern Hemisphere are having the longest night and now slowly moving towards the light. How can we apply these planetary changes and movement through these cycles into our lives?

When I look at this from above I see there is perfect harmony between light and darkness in our planet right now. And therefore auspicious time to work both with the light and dark within us. When we experience high Summer we feel energized and outgoing, it is a time of blossoming and exploring, being outside and enjoying ourselves. In the winter time it is time of introspection and drawing the energies within. We move deeper towards ourselves and rest more in our homes. These are natural tendencies but of course these depends on our situation and our life.

I always feel as I have been coming from the dark into the light during this time. I feel I can let go of things that no longer serve me and release stuck energies and emotions. I am going to make a bonfire tomorrow and do a ritual of both release and renew. Release and let go so I can let more light shine in. It is a time to embrace the new energies wether we are moving into summer or winter.

magical bonfire on the beach
I often do a death prayer arrow where I take a stick or a branch from nature which I can either paint or put ribbons on it that can represent something I am ready to release. Then I take another stick which is the life prayer arrow to represent my goals and dreams that I want to take with me into the next cycle. After lighting the bonfire, I wake up the energies around through drumming or singing and I start to build up energy. I do it my way awakening a sacred circle within the medicine wheel. Then I focus on the death prayer arrow and let it all flow into the stick to be released and burned in the fire. Sometimes it feels right to dance or walk counterclockwise around the fire until you feel the timing is right to release it. I let the transformative fire burn it in a symbolic act. After that I feel I am ready to let the light fill me and I can focus on my dreams and the life prayer arrow, silent sitting by the fire, putting more dream ribbons or feathers on it. The life prayer arrow comes home with me after the ritual, reminding me of where I am heading and is symbolic for my dreams. It becomes one of my power arrow that is directed towards my goals and visions.

We can start to become co-creators and start to make symbolic acts in our lives through rituals and tuning into the prevalent energies in nature.
